Hedges are an important feature in the landscape and some have been around for many centuries. If you have an interest in the countryside, then this is the course for you; there will be a chance to examine maps, aerial photographs and other records, which will demonstrate how hedges enhance the landscape. In addition, they are important wildlife habitats and there will be an opportunity to see and record what lives in local hedges and to consider their conservation management. A digital camera will be useful to record the views.

This Hedgerows course runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Please bring a packed lunch.

Tricia Moxey has a long association with Epping Forest and has recently edited Favourite Trees, a book celebrating the 50 winners of a district wide competition about its special trees. She is a qualified botanist and freelance lecturer and enjoys sharing her interests in flowering plants, trees and fungi with others.
