Additional Course Information
Designed for more intermediate to advanced students of fungi, this weekend course will look in detail at the different groups of fungi, studying their identification and natural history. Of vital importance in the everyday ecology of our world, in industry, medicine and food, the study of fungi is more important than ever before.
There will be field excursions on each day to explore a range of habitats and then afternoon and evening sessions using reference books, keys and microscopes to help you develop confidence in identifying the different species correctly. We will also look at the recent changes to their classification based on the latest DNA techniques and how to relate these to the existing field guides.
The content is also appropriate for anyone wishing to contribute to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
Geoffrey Kibby is an author and illustrator of numerous mushroom field guides and Senior Editor of the Journal of Field Mycology.
This
course is part of our programme of Professional Development Courses.
