This course will consist of illustrated talks with colour slides to show the special species found in the Scottish Highlands, their unique habitats and ecology.
There will be daytime field visits to a variety of habitats to observe butterflies such as the Scotch Argus and moths such as The Cherron and Northern Spinach.
Overnight mercury vapour lights will be running in the extensive wooded grounds at Kindrogan to attract a good range of Highland speciality moths. It is hoped to see Cousin German, Plain Clay, Northern Deep Brown Dart and Large Ear.
Help and advice will be given on identification, ways of recording and classification.
