Photoshop is an extraordinary programme which allows any photographer with a computer to enhance and manipulate their images in all sorts of ways. This short course will introduce you to the most useful features of Photoshop, with a strong emphasis on practical work so that you can become comfortable with using it. During the course you will be using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, which is an affordable but still very powerful cousin of the professional version of Photoshop. The course is aimed at people with little or no experience of using Photoshop, and will also be suitable for those who have 'dabbled' but could benefit from some structured tuition.
Just as important as learning how to carry out various operations on your photographs, you will learn when and why to use the various tools and controls. Central to the course will be the idea of interpreting the images captured by your camera.
If time permits we will also look at the main controls on your camera, and how to use them to best effect to ensure good quality images which can then be edited successfully in Photoshop. Also if time (and weather!) permits it may be possible to spend a little time taking photographs in the magnificent countryside around the Centre.
You will be welcome to bring photographs of your own (on USB Memory stick or CD/DVD) to work on.
Margaret and Rod Smith live in Horton in Ribblesdale, at the heart of the famous 'Three Peaks'. Prior to moving there they had a successful career as freelance photographers in Bradford. Since moving to the Dales they have taught 'A' Level Photography at Craven College in Skipton and Settle, a range of Photography courses (daytime and evening) for adults at various venues around the Craven district, and classes and workshops for the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
