Amersham Field Centre

Amersham Field Centre is located in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The FSC manages the centre and nature reserve on behalf of National Grid Transco. The 30 hectare site provides a mosaic of woodland, grassland and pond habitats for all ages to study.

Outdoor Classroom

On site your group can investigate broadleaf and coniferous woodland ecosystems and their management, or investigate pond and grassland habitats and their ecology. Geographers can consider weather and micro-climate as well as rocks and soils. The Centre is close to the River Chess, High Wycombe and recreation sites at Coombe Hill and Wendover Woods. There are opportunities to study energy and electricity using the substation.The Centre welcomes community groups including scouts and guides and also provide holiday activities and environmental birthday parties.

Professional Development

The Centre runs INSET courses throughout the year for both primary and secondary teachers. These are part of FSC professional development courses or in partnership with Local Education Authorities. Please contact the Centre for further information.
