This is the key part of why we are here! We are looking at the provision of training to volunteer groups and individuals in Shropshire and the wider region.
We hope to do this in the following ways:
Provision of training to individual volunteers; we will run a number of general and specialist training events each year that will be open to anyone.
Provision of tailor-made training to individual recording groups; we could fund a specialist trainer or provide a venue, etc.
Provision of progressive accredited training; a scoping exercise is currently underway to assess the need for accreditation as an option to part of our training programme.
Provision of assisted places on existing FSC courses; we can offer a small number of free places on a selection of courses. To be considered for one of these places the applicant must be able to demonstrate that they, or the person they nominate, will make a significant contribution to biological recording in Shropshire or the wider region by being awarded such a place.
The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Field Studies Council.
