National Science and Engineering Week

Celebrate National Science and Engineering Week at Epping Forest Field Centre between 9th and 18th March 2012. Book a place for your school group on one of our courses.

This year’s theme ‘Our World in Motion’ is incorporated into many of the courses on offer at the Centre.

Minibeasts in motion

Pupils can discover how minibeasts are adapted to move around their habitats in Epping Forest in our ‘Habitats and Lifecycles’ (Years 3 to 5) and ‘Interdependence and Adaptations’ (Year 5 - 6) courses. They will have an opportunity to compare the slimy movements of snails, the paddle-like limbs of water boatmen and the many legs of the centipede.

Rivers in motion

Pupils from primary age through to A-level can experience how water flows through a river channel and investigate how the channel characteristics change downstream. They can also learn how water moves through the surrounding area by visiting a local spring site.

Weather in motion

Pupils from primary age through to A-level can find out how to measure the changes in the weather by visiting our weather station and taking measurements of their own.

Alternative motion

If your school is planning something different for National Science and Engineering Week contact Kathy (Kathy.ef@field-studies-council.org) or call the centre on 02085028500 to find out how we can provide a custom made course to suit your needs.
