Tutor: Sue Wieck

Sue Wieck originally trained as a textile designer. She began watercolour painting over 20 years ago, continuing to develop her own distinctive style, mainly working directly from the landscape. She has been teaching art to both adults and younger students for over 36 years, during which time she was also Art Adviser for Bexley Education Authority. Sue works directly from life to produce paintings which express the light and shade in landscape. Her work is mainly on full-size heavy watercolour paper, as she enjoys using a variety of large brushes. This gives her the freedom to experiment with skies and express mood, which is a very different approach to that of many other watercolour painters. Her style is loose and not too detailed. Her themes include interesting old buildings, seascapes, bleak landscapes and tree studies, as well as fish and animals.
