FSC Staff

FSCEE calls upon the expertise of over 50 academic staff at FSC Centres. These staff have a wide range of expertise from delivering scientific and academic projects through to developing eco Adventure and safety out of doors programmes. The Chief Executive of the FSC Tony Thomas - the chair person of CEE and one of the UK's "top ten" environmental educators, regularly works for FSCEE on a variety of projects.

FSCEE has a network of highly experienced and recognised Associate trainers who are involved in delivering FSCEE projects

John Baines
Previously Director of Council for Environmental Education and now an independent consultant - John is currently closely involved with IUCN and is also a well known environmental education author. His areas of expertise are in strategy development for environmental education together with working directly with teachers and other groups in environmental education.

Ken Webster
Works for WWF as well as the FSC and is one of the leading people developing new ideas and approaches to Education for Sustainability in the UK. He also works on internet related projects.

Chris Gittins
Chris also works for Sustrans and Bristol City Council as an environmental officer where he has pioneered the Streets Alive Initiative. His areas of expertise are in putting together groups of people from the community to improve their own environment.

Oliver Savage
Oliver also works for LPP - and before that for Environ in Leicester where he took a leading role in the development of Leicester's Agenda 21. Like Chris his expertise is in the development of community programmes and sustainable development indicators.

Nicky Rowbottom
Is now an independent consultant but previously worked for Suffolk Wildlife Trust and Suffolk County Council. Her expertise is largely in environmental education for school students and teachers but she has also worked with wider communities on the Safe Routes to School Programme. Nicky is also fluent in Russian!

Cory Jones
Cory is now an independent consultant but previously worked for the FSC for almost 10 years in a number of roles including Centre Manager of Malham Tarn Field Centre and managing the contract to deliver the Lake District National Park Authority Education Service. He was previously Head of Conservation and Lifelong Learning for Sheffield Wildlife Trust, one of the UK’s leading regeneration organisations.

Cory now specialises in environmental education practice, personnel management for the voluntary sector, health and safety and first aid training and ecological advisory work. He has also leads wilderness expeditions across the globe.
