FSC Environmental Education

What We Do

workshopFSCEE works with partners in other countries in a variety of different ways. Usually our projects last from one to three or five years and involve a mixture of different activities. Once we have developed a successful project idea together, we can identify the most appropriate techniques for bringing about change.

Most of our partnerships focus on capacity building through training - coaching and mentoring. We have a unique approach to training that puts the traditional training course within a broader context of personal, organisational and community change. Many of our projects also involve study/training visits.

We also organise conferences and seminars, and manage staff exchanges between environmental education centres. Occasionally our trainers and associates provide inputs to high level conferences and seminars.

We have also been engaged in developing terms of reference for other projects and in project monitoring and review.

FSCEE believes firmly in developing projects that focus on:

Partnership

  • working closely with one or more local organisations to deliver training and development - and working with these partners for the long term.

Empowerment and capacity building

  • building local people and communities to engage in building a sustainable environment.

Meeting real needs

  • spending time working with our partners to identify real needs and develop projects that deal with root causes to problems through realistic solutions.

Outputs focused

  • achievable outputs that produce a real difference to the people and communities we work with.

Sustainability

  • sustainable outputs and building sustainable capacity - the best thing anyone can say to us is "we don't need you anymore!"

Quality management

  • careful planning and management - and our partners are REAL partners - we believe in openness and transparency when working with partners.

Monitoring and Review

  • robust monitoring, reviewing and evaluation to make sure that outputs are achieved - we are flexible but do aim to achieve our goals.

Value for money

  • giving value for money - we do not charge high fees to our funders and ensure that as much money as possible reaches the people who really need it.

Dissemination

  • sharing ideas - we don't just want to keep things to ourselves - we want to tell others about them.
