There are many interesting flowering aquatic plants that grow around ponds, lakes and streams. This course is for people who would like to learn about these aquatic plants, or for those who wish to refresh their aquatic plants knowledge and improve their indentification skills. It is intended to familiarise participants with the easily recognised non-critical species using a series of novel illustrated side-by-side synopses (supplied) that summarise their main features. A follow-on Advanced Aquatic Plants course is available on 20 July for those who wish to extend their knowledge further.
This Aquatic Plants course runs from 09.30 to 17.00 and includes lunch at a local public house and a free FSC guide Commoner Water Plants. Transport required to field sites.
Ken Adams is BSBI and Essex Field Club: Higher Plant, Fern and Bryophyte recorder for Essex. He co-authored the second Flora of Essex (1974) and is working on a third Flora of the county.
