This course introduces the habitat features important for conserving bees, beetles, flies and other insects. The focus is on ecology and conservation, rather than insect identification, with fieldwork demonstrating habitats and guidance given on any insects found.
The Course is aimed at anyone with an interest in conserving habitats for insects - no expertise required - and especially for those working in natures reserves, or other land sites, wishing to promote biodiversity.
Course times are 09.30 to 16.00 and includes a free FSC guide ' Guide to Bees of Britain'. Please bring a packed lunch.
Martin Harvey has worked in biological recording for over 10 years, with Wildlife Trusts, environmental records centres and currently for the Open University’s iSpot project, part of OPAL. He is a qualified tutor, and has led workshops on wildlife identification and recording for a wide range of organisations.
