Using Environmental Crafts with Young People

Course participants should gain an insight into the opportunities for using environmental crafts as an educational tool including an encouragement for a variety of personal and social skills. Participants will leave with first-hand experience of a variety of crafts and will have basic knowledge of the properties of materials widely available.

This course runs from 09.30 to 15.30 and includes lunch at a local public house.

Jem Ayres has a BA Hons. in Theatre and has worked creatively in Environmental Education for seven years. She has worked with the Field Studies Council, Essex Wildlife Trust and various arts organisations across Essex and London. Jem has experience working with a variety of groups including young people with disabilities, disadvantaged groups, young offenders in schools, community groups and festivals. Currently self-employed Jem leads training courses in Environmental Education using the Arts as a learning tool.
