Birds are often seen as a good measure of the health of the environment and the data produced by accurate, long-term surveys are essential to measure population trends. The BTO is an independent charity involved in the monitoring of UK birds and sets the standard worldwide for understanding the effects of environmental change on wildlife. Over 40,000 volunteer birdwatchers, in partnership with professional research scientists, take part in BTO surveys, the results of which feed directly into conservation.
This is a course for keen amateur birders who would like to learn some well-tested bird survey techniques or to take part in a BTO survey. We will cover surveys such as the Breeding Bird Survey, BirdTrack and many others. Each course is run by an experienced BTO Trainer.
The Flatford Mill course is run by experienced BTO Trainer Su Gough.
