This course is designed for those who wish to explore and capture by camera the magic of autumn: the changing colours, the seed heads, the fruits and berries, the early morning mists and dew that characterise the season. Your time will be divided between photographing at Flatford Mill, in a local garden and a nearby woodland.
We will work using different camera settings and varying depth of field to capture the atmosphere of the season. We will look at the basic principles of composition (including the rule of thirds) and how these help us to compose stunning images in camera.
Please note that participants should have either a digital SLR camera or one of the more advanced digital compact cameras that have at least shutter and aperture controls. The more basic ‘point and shoot’ cameras are not suitable for the sort of work we will be doing.
This is a practical course, with most of the time devoted to composing and taking pictures and evaluating their merits, rather than post-image manipulation.
If you are also interested in the image manipulation aspect of digital photography, please see our other courses on Digital Imaging with Photoshop Elements.
Jacqui Hurst is a professional photographer and teacher who very much enjoys helping people make the most of their digital cameras.
