Introducing Bird Songs in a Day!
- Centre: Flatford Mill
- Tutor: Edward Jackson
- Date : Tuesday 01 May
- Level: Open to Everyone
- This course is part of our Professional Development programme.
- Non-Resident: £56
This new day course aims to introduce you to as many different bird songs as possible in one day, explaining how best to identify and remember them through a combination of developing your listening skills and using smartphone apps and other devices.
The day starts with the morning chorus at 0600 and continues to 1400, by which time your memory banks will be nicely full! Breakfast and a picnic lunch are inclusive in the fee.
The course will be equally suitable for amateur birdwatchers and ecologists or other countryside professionals who need to recognise bird songs for survey and other purposes.
Please note that the course is to some extent weather dependent. If a horrendous day is forecast for Tuesday 1 May, then we will contact all participants to suggest an alternative. Best to keep Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 May free as well if you can.
Edward Jackson is Head of Centre at Flatford Mill and one of the most experienced birders in the FSC.
He has long had a special interest in bird songs and calls and very much enjoys sharing his knowledge on the ways of identifying and remembering song patterns.
