This is a course designed especially for those with some experience in watercolour painting who have a love and interest in flowers and plants and now wish to take their first steps in botanical illustration.
The course begins with close observation of the subject and some sketching. We will take a look at composition and cover colour mixing and colour matching to our specimens, plus all watercolour techniques needed to achieve the various textures required by the botanical illustrator.
A full materials and equipment list is provided in the course details leaflet and all of your source material will be provided on the course, together with appropriate handouts.
Lesley Smith has been teaching in adult education for over 23 years.
She was taught by Freda Titford who attended the botanical illustration courses originally set up by John Nash and she has been a regular attendee of Jenny Jowett's successor course at Flatford Mill for experienced botanical artists.
