Malham Tarn is a superb area with one third of the British sedge flora growing within three miles of the Field Centre. This course will be useful for botanical surveyors and anyone interested in finding out about this fascinating group of plants at the beginning of the ‘sedge season’. We will visit fen, bog, calcareous mire, grassland and woodland and practise using vegetative and flowering part keys.
Judith Allinson, an experienced botanist, worked for English Nature after leaving Malham Tarn where she was a member of staff. She currently teaches and carries out botanical survey work for Natural England besides running courses on flowers and grasses for a variety of groups.
This course is now historical and therefore no bookings can be taken.
