This botanical illustration course is designed for beginners and those with more experience who would like to explore the techniques of painting detailed studies of plants and fruit, flowers and foliage. Watercolour and pencil will be used, and the mixing of colours, particularly greens, will be of importance. We will be painting in the workroom after finding subject material in the grounds. Students may bring their own material if they wish. Tuition will be on a one-to-one basis with guidance from the initial drawing to the use of colour and the completion of the work. Demonstrations will be given and examples of botanical art will be examined and discussed.
Kay Rees-Davies is a freelance botanical artist, an RHS Gold medallist and an experienced teacher. She exhibits regularly with the Society of Botanical Artists and is the President of the North Wales Society of Fine Art.
