Stained Glass: Make Your Own Christmas Decorations

  • Location:  Flatford Mill
  • Tutor:  Carole Gray
  • Date : Wednesday 06 December 2017
  • Level: Open for Everyone

On this one day course you will learn to make hanging copper foiled glass Christmas decorations. You will have time to make three: an angel, a Christmas tree and a bell. If there is enough time, you can make additional items, although there will be a charge for the extra materials. The course is a practical one and includes glass cutting, copper foiling and soldering.

The day is suitable for any level of experience, including total beginners. All the materials and tools required for the course will be supplied. Included in the course fee are enough materials to make the three pieces.

Carole Gray is a designer and maker of decorative stained glass, who uses many of the traditional techniques practised by stained glass artists over the centuries to create work which is highly contemporary and decorative. She also has extensive experience teaching these techniques.

Her own style of work is abstract and inspiration comes from a wide range of sources. Colour, repeating patterns and decorative motifs are a common theme throughout. Carole is as happy using strong, vibrant colours as with a cool, calm and restrained palette.

She is listed on the Crafts Council Register and a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and the British Society of Master Glass Painters.
