Getting Kids Outdoors: Environmental Activities for Under 11s

This course is aimed at those who want to involve young people (under 11’s) in exciting outdoor learning experiences. With over 70 years’ experience in this area, the Field Studies Council has built a successful organisation delivering exactly this type of content. The day will be highly practical in order to learn a wide range of engaging activities which anyone can then transfer to their local parks or outdoor areas. There will also be opportunity to develop your own outdoor experiences through taking part in a selection of our group activities suitable for all ages.

The course is aimed at those with little or no prior experience in learning outside the classroom as well as those who want to know how the FSC make outdoor education work for Primary and uniform groups. This course runs from 09.45 to 16.00.

 

Our Natural History and Exploring Nature and the Arts courses are designed for those aged 18 and above. If you are interested in one of our courses but are under 18 at the time of the course beginning please contact the Centre hosting the course prior to booking to discuss the content and its suitability.

About the Tutor

This course will be run by Centre staff experienced in delivering environmental-based teaching sessions to groups of all ages in the outdoor environment.

  • 12:00 lunch - please bring a packed lunch
  • 13:00 Activities workshop
  • 15:00 Environmental art
  • 16:00 Course ends.

Accessibility:

  • Some classroom work ; activities take place within the grounds which is a forest environment with low/moderate levels of walking

Health and Safety:

  • There will be a member of staff with first aid training and access to a first aid kit on site.

About FSC and Epping Forest:

FSC Epping Forest is situated in the heart of Epping Forest and manages the field centre on behalf of the City of London since its opening in 1971. As a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the forest is nationally important for wildlife and offers a wide range of learning opportunities.
