Splash about in streams, wander through woodlands and journey to mountain lakes - all with the aim of discovering the amazing variety of creatures which thrive in the Welsh countryside. From bugs to birds, be amazed at what’s out there! North Wales has a huge variety of habitats to explore for all the family - from high mountain valleys to wild woodlands, tumbling upland streams to gentle pools. You will have great stories to take home and memories to treasure. Our tutor will bring the sometimes secret world of wildlife before your eyes and help you discover the fascinating facts behind the lives of a host of creatures. A holiday for keen wildlife explorers of all abilities! This course is aimed - though not exclusively - at younger children. Visit the ancient woodland bordering the Centre and discover some of its mysteries; family fun searching for signs of life in the streams and ponds of the Conwy Valley and a visit to the mountains of Snowdonia, once carved by ice. Activities include: Pond Dipping Humane Small Mammal Trapping Bat Detecting Woodland Minibeast Safari This break runs concurrently with Adventurous Activities in Wild Wales for age ranges 8+, enabling families with older children to book places on both. Time is still spent together through having one family room and shared mealtimes and evenings. Activity Rating * (Activity sites may be a short walk away)
The staff at Rhyd-y-creuau have a wide knowledge of the wonderful and inspiring habitats of the surrounding area, and of working with groups of all kinds.
