Bishops Wood Centre will become part of Field Studies Council
From 31st March 2016, Worcestershire County Council is handing over the operation of Bishops Wood Environmental Education Centre to Field Studies Council (FSC). National Grid will maintain ownership of the site.
Speaking on behalf of Worcestershire County Council, Cllr Lucy Hodgson, Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Localism and Communities, comments “Worcestershire County Council is extremely proud of what has been achieved at Bishops Wood. I am delighted that the Field Studies Council is now going to take on our role in the partnership and I am confident that this will ensure the Centre’s long term sustainability”
FSC is a UK-wide environmental education charity with a network of existing residential and day centres, and a history of over 70 years of delivering outdoor learning opportunities. The charity has also worked with National Grid at another of its locations.
Discussing the next chapter for Bishops Wood Centre Gill Frankling, Head of Bishops Wood says. “This new partnership with FSC will enable the centre to grow and continue to deliver innovative and creative environmental learning outside the classroom, inspirational professional development courses and training. Our existing customers will experience a smooth transition and we look forward to welcoming new customers as we build on the strengths of both Bishops Wood and FSC.”
Moving forward in partnership with FSC Ian Glover, Environmental Sustainability Manager at National Grid replies “National Grid is very excited about this new partnership at Bishops Wood.
