Field Studies Council: Bringing Environmental Understanding to All

Spotting seashells

A brand new chart to identify commonly found seashells has been launched by environmental charity Field Studies Council (FSC).

Seashells chartThe beautifully illustrated guide ‘Common Seashells’ covers everything from razor shells to periwinkles and will enable people of all ages to recognise and learn more about the shells they find around the coasts of Britain and Ireland this summer.

One side of the chart is dedicated to the full colour illustrations of the different types of shell, while the reverse contains information about each and ways to identify them.

Head of FSC Publications Rebecca Farley-Brown said: “This new chart is great for families to enjoy; the illustrations will appeal to younger children and the information provided will teach them more as they get older.  Everyone loves picking up shells during a day on the beach and this just takes it a step further helping to increase our knowledge about what we discover in the natural world.”
