Worldwise winners 2012
Reading School were crowned champions of the 2012 Worldwise Challenge, a popular free weekend of geography fieldwork and presentations led by the Geographical Association (GA), which took place at FSC Blencathra in the Lake District last month.
The weekend saw a range of tasks and activities which involved exploring and discovering the area around Blencathra. It culminated on the Sunday with presentations given to a panel of judges. 42 students took part, with teams from 8 different schools.
Staff, teachers and students agreed it was a fantastic event with one of the teachers commenting: 'I think it was a very worthwhile experience for the pupils and promoted some good geographical thinking skills about the changing connections between people and place in a landscape over time'

Worldwise is an initiative run by the GA and supported by FSC. It offers schools a range of free geography resources and activities – the more a school carries out, the more chance they have of winning a place on the Worldwise Challenge weekend.
Next year the weekend will take place at FSC Nettlecombe on the edge of Exmoor.
