The Field Centre in the Olympic Park
Our vision: the world's first residential inner-city field centre
On Wednesday 19th May 2010 the FSC and the Olympic Park Legacy Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to achieve their shared vision of developing a residential learning and education centre in the Olympic Park.
The vision is to develop a world-leading residential field centre specialising in outdoor education in the built environment – using the evolving and vibrant mix of buildings, spaces and parks to inspire and educate forthcoming generations of young people and their families. Ours will be an education resource which serves the local community but also reaches out to groups nationally and overseas. No such residential Field Centre with a strong urban and sustainable living focus exists in London, or anywhere in the world.
The FSC’s committment is long-lasting. Throughout its 65 year history the charity has been developing its network of field centres. The new centre will be its 18th and throughout this time we have never closed a centre. FSC brings stability and viability which is secured through its charitable objects and clear vision, allied to proven business management and financial independence.
We hope to welcome the first groups to the new Field Centre in the Olympic Park in Easter 2015. In the meantime, the FSC will continue to develop its education courses at the View Tube and through local Olympic Games Fieldwork.
