Orielton Field Centre is committed to reducing its impact on the environment, improving our environmental performance and raising environmental awareness amongst staff and visitors.
We will aim to :
Reduce the amount of litter produced, take all litter away
from activity sites and keep the centre litter free.

Reduce the amount of waste produced, increase the amount of waste recycled and re-using where possible
Manage and monitor water use in the centre, reducing the amount of water wasted
Reduce and manage the centre’s energy use, encouraging staff and visitors to switch off lights, computers and other electrical items when not in use.
Minimise the impact of fieldwork and increase visitor awareness through participation in activities.
Reduce use of cars and minibuses, reduce unnecessary journeys and encourage low impact transport to and from the centre, including cycling, walking, car sharing, rail and bus.
Purchase goods that are environmentally and ethically sound whilst supporting the local rural economy with the purchasing of locally sourced products where possible.
Involve the centre in appropriate community activities and increase partnerships to help improve the environmental performance of the centre.
Ensure that environmental policies, practices and improved performance are communicated effectively to all staff and visitors.
Develop best practice environmental policies that conform to Field Studies Council Codes of Practice and Environmental legislation and to encourage others to adopt similar activities.
