FSC key stage 3 geography courses combine specific elements of the geography curriculum with the development of personal confidence and teambuilding skills to create an exciting and memorable experience which hopefully inspires young people to decide geography is what they want to do.
Adventurous Geography, 4 days4 day
This course will fuse fieldwork with outdoor activities to give students the opportunity to explore real geographical contexts in an exciting and engaging way. The course allows students to get first hand experiences of a range of physical landscapes and processes and a unique insight into the interaction of people and the environment. Individuals undertaking the programme will be encouraged to develop their team skills and individual motivation whilst involved in activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

This course will give students the opportunity to study 'first hand' the geographical concepts of space, interdependence, environmental interaction and sustainable development. The course has been designed to enable the maximum time spent 'in the field', investigating the issues affecting diversity of a wide range of human and natural environments. Starting from the students' personal geographies, FSC tutors will lead them through a selection of activities designed to develop geographical competence while enhancing enquiry and creative thinking skills.

This course introduces students to the process of completing a fieldwork investigation in the style of a controlled assessment. Using your exam board's route to enquiry the students will have the opportunity to complete an investigation similar in style to the controlled assessment they will have to undertake during their GCSE year. Topics for investigation are tied closely to the topic areas offered by your exam board in the GCSE year and will allow students to build on their current geographical knowledge and skills. Students will have the opportunity to participant in a series of active learning sessions that will enable them to practice all aspects of the controlled assessment while building up valuable skills.

This course is designed to cover the Individual Fieldwork Enquiry for the Geography 13+ Common Entrance Exam. Students will have the opportunity to use their geographical knowledge to form a clear question for the investigation. They will participate in group data collection, justifying their methods and using a range of fieldwork equipment. Opportunities will be available for using ICT for data presentation and individual research. In addition students will complete a selection of investigations, linked to the syllabus, which will support and enrich their geographical knowledge and understanding.
