Key Stage 2 Programmes
FSC Key Stage 2 programmes are fixed length residential courses with clearly stated outcomes that enable teachers to quickly and easily book a residential fieldtrip, safe in the knowledge that it will be directly related to work taught in the classroom and will contribute to achieving the curriculum.
As well as exploring a different aspect of learning about the environment, each programme will a strong emphasis on developing personal confidence and team-building skills and will include activities to encourage cultural appreciation, artistic development and physical well being.
All programmes aim to:
- enable students to make more confident and informed choices about their environment
- give the chance to reflect on spiritual, moral, cultural and social issues
- provide students with an understanding of basic concepts of sustainability
- foster a safe and caring environment in an enjoyable way
- provide an opportunity to develop team skills and confidence as an individual
- enable students to experience what makes a healthy lifestyle including the benefits of exercise and healthy eating
- enable students to discover the location of places using maps and plans at a range of scales
KS2 Learning for Life
This 5-day course is designed to explore student’s relationships with their environment, the impact of their lifestyles and provides opportunities to investigate the world around them in a safe and systematic way.
KS2 Geo-Science
This 5-day course is designed to cover both geographical and scientific themes. It will enable students to explore the physical and human features of the local environment, and the interdependence and adaptations of organisms in contrasting habitats. It provides opportunities to investigate the world around them in a safe and systematic way.
KS2 Eco-Adventure
This 5-day course is designed to explore student’s relationships with their environment, the impact of their lifestyles and provides opportunities to investigate the world around them in a safe and systematic way.
KS2 Inspired for Life
This 5-day course is designed to cover all aspects of the John Muir Discovery Award, using a holistic approach to discover, explore, conserve and share. Pupils will develop relationships with the environment through the discovery and exploration of a particular wild place. Pupils will gain knowledge and understanding about nature, and the interdependence of living systems. They will appreciate the value of wild places and take practical action to help conserve that environment. The course provides opportunities to discover the world around them in a safe and systematic way.
