Field Studies Council: Bringing Environmental Understanding to All

Field trips are inspiring, enjoyable and memorable for both pupils and teachers at primary level. FSC cross curricular courses have identified outcomes enabling teachers to book a residential field course, quickly and easily, safe in the knowledge that it will be related directly to your classroom teaching and contribute to achieving key aspects of the purpose, principles and outcomes of  A Curriculum for Excellence.

Eco Explorers5 day

This five day course, designed to meet outcomes within the 5-14 National Guidelines for environmental studies, in social subjects and science, and to deliver the capacities and outcomes of A Curriculum for Excellence.  The course provides an interdisciplinary outdoor learning experience through practical, conceptual fieldwork activities combined with developing self and environmental awareness, and informed attitudes.

  • Problem solving, team building and personal and social development
  • Investigating the natural world - local landscapes and habitats
  • Understanding through 'doing' nature conservation and responsible access - with the option of completing the John Muir Award
  • Orienteering, ropes challenge, and hill walks

Stepping up - Primary to Secondary Transition

Are you interested in forming a 'transition' group with your secondary school?

FSC offers Eco adventure courses ideal for those pupils making the transition between P7 and S1. This could be an excellent opportunity to maintain pupil enthusiasm and interest through this challenging period.
