Sampling for invertebrates

Mile End Ecology Park

Summary of the investigation

Sampling ivertebrates in the three habitsts of freshwater, leaf litter and the canopy can be used to develop the techniques of sampling, as part of the Ecology in the School Grounds unit, and the concepts of habitat, community, population and ecosystem.

Full support is given for data collection in the field and post-visit work at school. Extensive teacher guidance, with PowerPoint presentations, a full sample risk assessment and detailed plan of a sequence of lessons, are also available for download.
