Exmoor Eco-Schools

The Exmoor Eco-Schools Initiative aims to for all state schools within the boundaries of Exmoor National Park to achieve the Eco-Schools Green Flag status by September 2011. This project is fully endorsed by the EcoSchools Award and for further details on the award please visit the Eco-Schools website.

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that seeks to increase environmental understanding and participation throughout the school environment. By 2020 the government in England wants every school to be a sustainable school and the Eco-Schools programme helps to guide schools on their sustainable journey. It is centred around nine themes of Water, Biodiversity, Energy, Global Perspectives, Healthy Living, Litter, School Grounds, Transport and Waste.

The Field Studies Council, Exmoor National Park Authority and their associated partners are supporting this project to focus on community wide involvement and in so doing will help move Exmoor National Park towards reaching its sustainability targets.
