A key to the Collembola (Springtails) of Britain and Ireland

Shows publication OP111

The AIDGAP identification guide to Collembola (springtails) has been designed to guide the beginner to this group through the identification process and should enable all adult Collembola to be identified to species level.

With around 250 species, Collembola are one of the most diverse groups in Britain and Ireland but relatively little is known about the geographical ranges of all but the most common species. Although they are regarded as a ‘difficult’ group and can appear daunting to study, with a little practice one soon becomes familiar with the characteristics of the larger and more common species and can use the springtail identification keys with ease.

Like all other AIDGAP keys, this guide was extensively tested during preparation; this, the first published edition, has been produced in light of feedback from testers.

AIDGAP produces simple and clearly written identification keys, aimed at non-specialist users from age 16+

The FSC is one of the UK's leading publishers of identification guides, ranging from easy to use fold-out charts, through intermediate level AIDGAP guides, to specialist books such as the Synopses of the British Fauna and RES Handbooks
