Legacies

If you have a life time of inspiration from the natural world, why not help to inspire others by making provision for the FSC in your will.
Your gift could help to inspire a new generation to care for the environment – a real legacy for the future.

Any amount, large or small, will be put to excellent use. Your legacy could make a real difference to a young person’s life by supporting FSC Kids fund in providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people to discover and explore the natural environment.

Making or changing a Will is straightforward and we hope that the links below will help you.

Making a Will

We recommend that you should contact a solicitor before making a Will. This is usually inexpensive and will ensure that your intentions are clear and easily understood. He/she will ask you to list the people and charities to who you would like to leave gifts and possessions. You can specify the type of gift that you would like to leave.
  • A gift in kind: a specified item such as a property
  • Pecuniary gift : a sum of money
  • Residuary gift : all or part of your whole estate once all other gifts, donations and liabilities have been taken care of.

Please remember that leaving a legacy to the FSC is free of inheritance tax which means that there may be less tax to pay on the estate.

To include a gift to the FSC you can use the following words:

“I give (*insert appropriate words from the three choices below) to Field Studies Council (Registered Charity No. 313364), Preston Montford, Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury SY4 1HW, for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly appointed officer for the time being of the FSC shall be sufficient discharge for my Executors or Trustees. ”

*INSERT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING

  • “….the residue or X% of the residue of my estate”
  • “….the sum of £X”
  • “….the following items (+ list of items)”

How will your gift be used?

All gifts to the FSC will be allocated to one of two funds – both of which will help a greater number of people to visit our centres and enjoy an FSC experience.

  • The FSC Kids Fund – a special fund set up by the FSC to help disadvantaged children and young people to visit an FSC centre. Find out more...
  • The Field Centre Development fund – a fund which will be used to develop facilities and equipment at our field centres, helping to provide an even better experience for our visitors.
