Access to the main building is restricted by keypad locks on the external doors. The centre has five workrooms, three with lab facilities. There is also a library, computer room, soil testing lab and circulating sea-water system. There is a games room with table tennis, table football, playstations and a CD player; student common room with TV, video, DVD and a range of board games; student kitchen with hot and cold drink-facilities; staff room with open fire, TV, DVD etc and staff kitchen where drinks can be made. Outside there is a 5-a-side pitch, volleyball area, picnic tables and plenty of space to relax. Orielton is set within an estate of 48 hectares close to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Although predominantly wooded, there are streams, ponds and grassland areas, and the estate is used for teaching as well as recreation. The centre has internationally important colonies of bats on site, and badgers area frequent sight around the centre buildings. The centre has an open fire in the staff sitting room, a drying room, equipment hire for those needing waterproofs and wellington boots, computer room, wireless internet access in the stableyard area, shop, and a weather station. |
