Field Studies Council - Rhyd-y-creuauvirtual tour by eyerevolutionReturn to Rhyd-y-creuau home page FSC Rhyd-y-creuau has 34 rooms the majority of which are twin or bunk bedded rooms for two, there are five four bedded rooms and four dorm rooms. Different groups can be accommodated in different wings of the of the main building, with a separate area available in the Historic Georgian Main House and three further zones available in a more recent extension. For security all rooms can be locked, the majority have key code pads. The centre has five workrooms, all were substantially upgraded in 2010 and have internet wireless access, interactive whiteboards, digital projectors and visualisers to support a creative learning environment. There is a large bank of laptops for use during ICT and GIS sessions as well as plenty of microscopes and other scientific lab equipment. The centre has a range of recreational areas and facilities available for all Visitors. There is Games area in the cellar of the main house, with access to DVD players, computer consuls and TV's as well as a pool table, table tennis and table football. There is a student lounge, which provides guests with a quiet area to watch a film from a bank of DVDs or play one of the many board games available for visiting groups. There are drinks making facilities and another area to sit and relax, in the conservatory adjacent to the main dining room. Squash, tea, coffee and microwave are available 24 hours a day. The centre is sited near the A470 with good coach access, with grounds overlooked by the mountains of Snowdonia. The centre grounds of 2.2 hectares of land includes a football pitch, woodland, biodiversity garden, campfire area, teambuilding challenges, stream and ponds. Guests using the grounds can also borrow a range of outdoor games including footballs, rounder's bats and badminton equipment. There is also a drying room, equipment hire for all those who need waterproofs and boots, a library in the main house with many local interest books, a weather station (the daily recorded data for which is available to guests) and a shop selling fair-trade products and FSC publications. |
