Given the FSC's commitment to bring environmental understanding to all, we have a clear obligation to improve access to our organisation via the Web.

Accessibility Features

This website has been designed with accessibility issues in mind.

  • The navigation system is deliberately designed with accessibility in mind, using text-only links
  • The page formatting is also deliberately designed with accessibility in mind, to aid reading of the page for visually-impaired users
  • Accessible content (for example, a text-based equivalent) is provided wherever non-accessible content (for example, an animated sequence) is used.

How to use your browser to improve accessibility

Making the pages easier to read

If you wish to increase the size of fonts on this and other sites, use the following instructions for popular web browsers.

Instructions for increasing size of fonts
Internet Explorer 9 Press ALT on the keyboard then, open the View menu, select the Text size option, and select the font size you wish to use. Alternatively, go to the view menu and select the desired Zoom option to size the page appropriately.
You can also standardise the use of fonts by opening the Tools menu, selecting the Internet Options option. Make sure you are in the General Tab of the Internet Options dialog box. Click the button titled Accessibility. Deselect the options titled Ignore font styles specified on webpages, and Ignore font sizes specified on webpages
Firefox Press ALT on the keyboard then, open the View menu and select the desired Zoom option to size the page appropriately.
Google Chrome Click the Spanner icon at the end of the address bar then, select +/- next to Zoom.

Instructions for simplifying use of colour
Internet Explorer 9 Open the Tools menu, selecting the Internet Options option. Make sure you are in the General Tab of the Internet Options dialog box. Click the button titled Accessibility. Select the option titled Ignore colors specified on webpages
Firefox Press ALT on the keyboard then, open the Tools menu, then select Options. Go to the Content tab, and click Colors.... Deselect the option Allow pages to chose their own colors, instead of my selections above. You can alter the default colours in the area titled Text and Background and Link Colors.

Making the pages faster to download

If you wish to remove images from this and other sites, use the following instructions for popular web browsers.

Instructions for removing images
Internet Explorer 9 Open the Tools menu, select the Internet Options option, and select the Advanced tab. In the Accessibility section, make sure Always expand ALT text for images is selected. Scroll down to the Multimedia section, and deselect Show pictures.
Firefox Press ALT on the keyboard then, open the Tools menu then select Options. Go to the Content tab, and untick Load images automatically.
