What information is gathered by this web site and how it is used
As we gather certain types of information about visitors to our Web site, it is importantl that you know what is gathered and how it is used.
Personal Information
Several areas of the FSC web site provide visitors with the opportunity to supply personal details: for example, the Your Courses facility in the Individuals & Families, and in the Your Publications facility in the Publications section of the site. This information is collected so that we can get back in touch with you about your enquiry.
If you request a Individuals & Families brochure, you will be prompted to provide an address that the brochure will be sent to. You can indicate that you don't wish for this information to be used for further mailings.
If information is to be used for other purposes then this will be clearly stated and the option to opt out will be provided, in keeping with data protection legislation.
Usage tracking
The FSC website uses www.opentracker.net to collect visitor data and analyze traffic on our site. This information helps us understand customer interests and helps us improve our website. When you visit our site, the pages that you look at, and a short text file called a cookie, are downloaded to your computer. A cookie is used to store small amounts of information. This information is collected for traffic analysis only. The cookie does not contain personal details. Depending on the browser that you use, you can set your preferences to block/ refuse cookies, and/ or notify you before they are placed. Opentracker does not sell, give, or trade the statistics they store to any 3rd parties for data-mining or marketing purposes. Please visit www.opentracker.net for their privacy policy.
We also track individual enquiries on the Individuals & Families, 16+ Module and Publications search facility, as well as selections made in the Your Courses and Your Publications facilities. These enquiries and selections are not connected to individual uses, and are intended only to give a general overview of the usage of these facilities.
Feedback from and about the site may also solicited by the entirely voluntary completion of feedback forms and through enquiries and comments submitted directly to the FSC Webmaster. Any such information given voluntarily will be used to develop the site and improve the visitor's experience of the site.

Cookies are used within the FSC web site to implement certain facilities: the Your Courses and Your Publications facilities use cookies to keep track of the items requested and to remember your contact information (you will given the choice of your contact informaton not being remembered when you enter it.)

Sharing of the information gathered
The FSC will only use the information gathered for the purposes outlined here or at the point of its submission and in line with current data protection legislation. No information about individual users will be shared with third parties. Any exception to this will be clearly stated and users will be given the opportunity to opt out.
