Adult Learner’s week, 17-23 May, is a focal point to encourage people of all ages to further their knowledge. But every week the FSC offers the opportunity to develop new skills and explore new areas of interest on leisure learning courses. Why not see if we can tempt you to get involved by searching the Individuals and Families section of the website.
With school half term and the long summer break fast approaching the FSC has many opportunities for families and also young people wanting to get away on their own. Family Wildlife, Active, and Creative holidays are available at a variety of locations and to suit families with differing ages of children. All have one thing in common - activities which help all members of the family explore and discover more about the natural world but most importantly have FUN!

Publications of the Month
Ladybirds provide a natural form of pest control with most species feeding on aphids, making them a favourite visitor to most gardens at this time of year. To help you identify Britain’s favourite beetle the FSC has a Guide to ladybirds of the British Isles featuring the 26 most commonly found ladybirds in the British Isles.
Have you ever wandered along meadow paths and wondered what the beautiful wildflowers are that are waving in the summer breeze? Two fold-out charts A key to grassland plants 1 and A key to grassland plants 2 are the ideal companions to walks in the countryside this summer. The grassland plants 2 keyhelps identify the grassland plants of chalk and limestone soils and complements A key to grassland plants 1 which focuses on the identification of grassland plants found on neutral soils.
