Are you fascinated by the weird and wonderful world of insects and creepy crawlies? Come and join us for our community event at Bushy Park, one of London’s Royal Parks, on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd July.
Our family-friendly community event on Friday 22nd July will be jam packed with a wide variety of free educational activities for all ages, giving you and your loved ones the opportunity to learn more about the best kept secrets of our invertebrate relatives.
All activities are free, and we would love you to join us for as much or as little as you can! If you’re interested, please keep reading to find out more about what to expect.
Our base for the community event on Friday 22nd July will be the Pheasantry in Bushy Park. There will be a mix of activities for all ages happening throughout the day from 11am to 3pm.
On arrival you will be greeted by our team who will provide you with more information about the activities on offer and give you your ‘Butterfly Passport’; if you collect four or more stamps during your visit then remember to claim your free gift before you leave. There will also be activities that will allow you and your family to get creative and show off your invertebrate knowledge.
Activities include:
- River dipping for freshwater invertebrates
- Sweep netting and tree beating for grass and tree invertebrates
- Citizen science surveys to help us measure the health of the bug and tree communities in Bushy Park
Alongside the stands and drop-in activities, there will be guided walks starting at 30-minute intervals throughout the day. These specialised sessions are led by specialists form Field Studies Council and the BioLinks team.
