Adventures in Snowdonia

Throughout the week you will take part in a variety of activities to discover and explore the National Park and surrounding areas with like-minded peers.

Challenges might include climbing, gorge scrambling, mountain trekking, canoeing and an overnight camping expedition. A key aspect of the residential will be your conservation day, where you will conduct work to conserve an area within Snowdonia National Park.

Our residentials also give you the chance to develop a range of transferable skills. These types of skills help across many areas of life and are particularly good for including in job or education applications. Here are some of the skills that are likely to be covered in this residential:

The course is suitable for a Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold residential. As part of the residential course you will also be able to gain the John Muir Discovery Award.

We want to ensure participants get to share in their experience with those of a similar age. Please consider what age the attendee will be on the course date and check they fit into the age category when booking.

If the attendee is under 18, the booking must be made by a parent/guardian. When you book, it is essential that you enter the age and attendees name in the Order Notes at the checkout.

When attending the residential dates which welcome 16-18 year olds, all participants will be expected to follow the behaviour and conduct rules which will be in place to safeguard young people.

Example Timetable

Day 1
Arrive for 1200
Team building challenges, introdcutions and welcome tour of the centre

Day 2
Land-based activity
Rock Climbing or Ghyll Scrambling
Trekking through nearby mountains and wild spaces
Establish camp and set up for the evening, sharing stories and socialising.

Day 3
Pack up camp and continue walking through the countryside and mountains
Bushcraft activities in the centre grounds or local woodland.
Mammal and moth trapping

Day 4
We will see what we have caught overnight in the humane mammal and moth traps.
Conservation Day: We will be working in partnership with the Snowdonia National Park Authority to carry out conservation tasks for the benefit of others. This will involve clearing an area and working to combat local invasive species.
There will be evening orienteering or nightline

Day 5
Exploration of the mountains and environment
Scrambling, rock climbing or gorge scrambling.
Final review
Reflection and farewells to your new friends
