Hospitality

Accommodation

We believe at Orielton that all our guests should feel welcome and at home. We realise that some of our younger guests can feel vulnerable as it’s their first time away from loved ones. We strive to achieve the best and that’s why we have friendly staff who are always on hand to help.

Our centre is based in a stunning Georgian mansion set in 120 acres of wooded grounds. Arranged over four floors, the accommodation retains many original features and is Grade 2* listed – take the opportunity to use the Virtual Tour to find out more about the facilities on offer. On the ground floor we have an adult sitting room with adjoining kitchen area, student common room, dining room and main office. The first and second floors are bedroom accommodation and the basement contains the drying room, games room area, student kitchen for making hot and cold drinks, tuckshop and waterproof store.

Orielton has 127 beds in the main house and stableyard: in the main house there are 7 en-suite rooms for teachers and 18 small dormitories for students (for 4 – 8 students), and in the stableyard there are a further 6 rooms. Staff rooms have hanging space, a bedside table, desk and tea & coffee making facilities. Student rooms have a handbasin and storage space for belongings. Bedding is supplied for all visitors and towels are provided for teachers and adults on leisure learning or professional courses.

Whether you are on an adult course, with a school group or with your family, in our main house the adult sitting room is the perfect location for relaxing, with an open fire, television and comfortable armchairs. There is also a spacious student common room with television and leather sofas. Downstairs there is a games rooms with pool table, table football, table tennis and a selection of board games.

We have six workrooms, and one of these can be used as a conference room for 80 – 100 people. All workrooms have interactive whiteboards and there is excellent WiFi access throughout the centre. Multi-media projection facilities are also available, along with access to laptops and tablets should you need them. There is an extensive library and for practical work we also have a soils lab and circulating seawater wet-bench.

The 120 acre grounds includes areas of deciduous and coniferous woodland, ponds and streams, a lawn area with picnic tables, a 5 a-side pitch, volleyball area, fire pit area, small climbing wall and weather station. Our extensive woodlands are perfect for woodland walks, spotting local wildlife including badgers, bats and woodland birds or following the clues around the woodland trail.
