Preston Montford Field Centre is one of 18 residential centres in the UK managed by the Field Studies Council, an independent educational charity that promotes environmental understanding for all with 70 years of experience.
A delightful Queen Anne country house situated by the river Severn to the west of Shrewsbury and set in 12 hectares of grassland and woodland. It lies close to the Welsh boarder within easy reach of the North Shropshire mere’s and mosses’ and South Shropshire Hills known as the secret hills, a place you may not think to visit but once you have been you will definitely be wanting to come back. Shropshire has the most varied geology in Britain, as well as a wide range of plants and animals.
Preston Montford has been awarded the Primary and Secondary Geography Quality Mark by the Geographical Association. As well as the Quality Badge by The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom by demonstrating that they consistently deliver high quality teaching and learning experiences and manage risk effectively. This means you have to complete less paperwork when visiting our Centres. They hold an eco centres award which shows there commitment to embedding a truly sustainable approach in their centre and their wider community.
