We use reputable suppliers who provide the highest quality of food. We have a variety of hot wholesome meals including vegetarian options and we provide Halal meat if requested. We strive to maintain the high standards of our five-star food hygiene rating at all times. If you have any special food requirements please let a member of staff know before you arrive at the Centre. Don’t forget to bring a lunch box and a flask for any day trips out.
We believe at Rhyd-y-creuau that all our guests should feel welcome and at home. As we realise some of our younger guests can feel vulnerable as it’s their first time away from loved ones. We strive to achieve the best and that’s why we have friendly staff that are always on hand to help.
Rhyd-y-creuau is in the heart of the glaciated valleys of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. All of our accommodation is in one building that is separated across different wings in the main building, so we can accommodate different groups at the same time.
We have 34 rooms, the majority of which are twin or bunk bedded rooms for two; there are also five four-bedded rooms and four dorm rooms.
On the lower ground we have an adult common room with a bar, the adult common room is a spacious, peaceful lounge where adult groups or teachers can enjoy relaxing by reading, watching TV or playing board games. In the adult room we also have a computer that has access to the internet, which is free to use. We also have a large student common room full of comfortable sofas. On the lower floor we have a games room with a pool table, table tennis and table football, as well as a sitting area for relaxing.
We have a large dining room area that is split into two sections, so if we have an adult group in they are normally placed in the conservatory section and the students will be in the main section.
We have a Library which has many local educational books and also doubles up as a conference room with an interactive whiteboard.
The centre has five workrooms, all were substantially upgraded in 2010 and have internet wireless access, interactive whiteboards, digital projectors and visualisers to support a creative learning environment. There is a large bank of laptops and tablets for use during ICT and GIS sessions as well as plenty of microscopes and other scientific lab equipment.
A shop selling fair-trade products and FSC publications can also be found in the main building.
