Join us at our Nettlecombe Court for our fun school holiday activities for children and families.
Activities are based outdoors, and explore the natural world. The sessions are a mix of games and activities that will inspire you to find out more and discover how you can help wildlife on your doorstep. To take part you do not need any experience or any expensive kit, just an enthusiasm for being outside and discovering nature.

Into the Wilderness - We will adventure to the woodland nearby Nettlecombe and learn what we need for survival in the wilderness. We’ll have a go at making shelters and learn how to start campfires safely. We may even do some cooking! We’ll also have a go at some nature-based arts and crafts using the the beautiful colours, textures and shapes found in the natural environment.
Wed 31, May 2023 09:00 - 15:30
The Secret World of Rock Pools - Visit one of our coastal rocky shore sites to explore the rock pools on this beautiful part of Somerset’s coastline. Adventurers will see what animals they can find in rock pools and learn about their amazing adaptations to a rocky shore environment. There will also be time to hunt for fossils along the beach and/or take part in a beach clean to help keep our marine life safe.
Thu 01, June 2023 09:00 - 15:30
Nature Detectives - Adventurers will have a chance to get up close and personal with some of the wildlife living in the grounds of Nettlecombe Court. We’ll see who’s been staying in our mammal hotels overnight, try to identify some of our common bird species, and take part in a ‘minibeast safari’. We’ll also have a go at using tracks and signs to learn about some of our more elusive animals, and adventurers can try taking casts of footprints to take home with them.
Fri 02, June 2023 09:00 - 15:30
Team Challenges - Put yourself to the test with some of our team challenges. Adventurers will learn how to navigate with a compass to complete our orienteering course and have a go at our nature-based scavenger hunt. See if your team can complete the Nettlecombe Olympics! After a final review of everything we have achieved it will be time to say goodbye.
Field Studies Council want to inspire people to be curious, caring and passionate about our environment. Our Eco Adventures are designed to do just that.
