Join us and discover handmade printing from nature. Expect the unexpected! – Don’t be afraid of the dark!
A creative experience where you can learn new skills and discover that it is not essential to have an expensive printing press to incorporate hand-made prints into artwork. As part of this course, you will discover the fascinating potted history of how and who made printmaking since 3000BC!

During the course you will be able to learn the differences between three types of printmaking, watch demonstrations of ‘how to do it’ then try out your own ideas in the different types of printing including: Monoprinting and drypoint printing plus, experiment with creating prints using a gelli-plate.
Most materials and tools will be supplied. You will only need to bring yourself, a large apron, thin surgical type gloves (this can be lovely and messy!), a sketchbook or sketching paper, something to draw with (can be pencils, fineliners, ballpoint pens or felt-tips.) If you have a gelli-plate please bring it but some will be available to use.
You can choose from a selection of paper and card to print on to which will be available to use but if you have your own, please bring it along. (This can simply be from a sketch pad or blank cards).
We will use a wide range of materials to create textures, shapes and designs including natural materials gathered from coast and countryside (much of which can be found around the local area to Slapton Ley.)
