Great crested newts are an internationally important species whose population has experienced a massive decline over the last century, largely due to the destruction of their habitat. They are now legally protected by British and European law.

Come along to this talk to hear about one of the ways great crested newts are being protected in the UK: the District Level Licensing Scheme, which is operated under Natural England to create and restore pond habitat for great crested newts across England. Could this be one of the largest pond creation and restoration projects in Europe?
