Nestled 300m up on the south-facing slopes of Blencathra and just a mile outside of the Lakeland village, Threlkeld, FSC Blencathra offers panoramic views of the Lake District fells – providing guests a true sense of space through a unique site, which many visitors enjoy year after year.

We have simple, comfortable accommodation mostly in a mixture of single, twin and family rooms, some of which are en-suite. Guests who stay with us can enjoy an à la carte breakfast. 

The centre includes a lounge with a conservatory overlooking the Northern Lake District Fells, and a games room which is great place to relax between adventures. The centre also has a drying room and library.  Within the centre grounds there is a basketball court, eco-garden and several patio and lawn areas to enjoy at leisure. 

Venture out from the centre along marked footpaths to explore the valleys, woodlands, hills and mountains of the Lake District National Park. This World Heritage landscape is full of wildlife, vast open spaces and breath-taking scenery just waiting to be discovered. 

Bedroooms

  • A mix of dormitory, twin and single rooms. Maximum room occupancy is six.

Bathrooms

  • Individual showers and toilets are on the same corridor as the bedrooms either directly opposite or a few feet away.
  • Some rooms have ensuite.

  • Ample parking for cars and access for up to two coaches to turn around and park.

  • The centre has it’s own hydro-electric turbine and solar panels generating green electricity – an electric car charging point is available for guests to use.
  • A shop on site sells gifts, sweets, drinks, toiletries, and wildlife identification guides.
  • The centre has a licenced bar serving pre and post dinner drinks (dependent on the group).
  • Disabled access is available throughout the ground floor of the centre.
  • Six additional holiday cottage and a group self-catering unit (Lonscale) also available (some of which accept pets).

  • 1 mile from Threlkeld (home to a community coffee shop, gastro pub and Post Office).
  • 5 miles from Keswick (home to the Theatre by the Lake on the shoreline of iconic Derwent Water).
  • 9 miles from Whinlatter Forest (mountain bike and walking trails, Siskins Café, Go Ape and a Wild Play area awaits).
  • 13 miles from Penrith (access the centre by train/bus from here).

    • No smoking in the buildings but there are designated outside smoking areas.
    • No parties.
    • No pets.
