This Bushcraft and Adventures course is for families wishing to spend quality time together in one of the most beautiful areas of the Lake District. The course is designed to be fun and to encourage young people back into nature reaping the benefits of the outdoors. There are not many occasions when you would encourage your child to build fires or eat wild plants but that is exactly what we will do! You will get the chance to try new skills and techniques; identify edible plants in their natural habitat, build your own shelters and have all the fun that goes with wilderness bushcraft. We'll take to the water in canoes on Derwentwater or one of the local rivers, and explore mountains on foot. We'll take time to find out about the local woodlands and get involved in some practical conservation.
Activities include: Canoeing Shelter Building Mountain Walk Conservation Bushcraft Skills Lighting Campfires Activity Rating *** (Course will involve strenuous activities and will require a reasonable degree of fitness).
The course will be led by trained centre staff who have a wide range of experiences in the outdoors and in leading groups in the Lake District.
