In this course the aim will be to paint outdoors each day, thereby taking inspiration from the experience of direct contact with the subject. This is of course weather permitting, and a few sessions will be based in the studio even if weather is fine, where techniques and problems encountered may more easily be addressed as a group. The importance of tone, composition, energy and interpretation will be addressed, and core watercolour techniques demonstrated throughout the course, with students receiving plenty of individual guidance. Please note, this course is aimed at those already having experience of watercolour, but wishing to improve and especially with regard to completing paintings ‘on the spot’ outdoors. Since painting outdoors brings some additional challenges the course is not suitable for watercolour beginners and knowledge of the basics is assumed.
